It's Been Awhile

After a three month hiatus, I am back to post some more thoughts.

a) The Terps suck. Did they really lose to Middle Tennessee State this past weekend? And now they have the Cal Bears coming to town....the same Cal Bear team that just kicked the crap out of Washington State, 66-3.

b) The NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV is one of the greatest inventions of all time. And although, I didn't see this play live:



I did get to watch this (before I dozed off into a sickness induced nap):



c) If you want to read a blog by a real live professional journalist, check out Solomon's Wisdom on the Birmingham (Alabama) News Web site. Jon is a friend of mine from college and because he loves his occupation so much, a sports journalist who has found himself stranded in the middle of Alabama.

e) The Pirates finally got some good news this weekend: The Steelers season has started, which means nobody will notice how god awful they have become....again.

Alright, this weekend the Pirates come to Baltimore to take on the Orioles in an epic showdown of mediocre teams. It truly is an event not to be missed.

The Pirates come to Baltimore for the first time since the 1979 World Series. Things are slightly different this time around, as these teams rank first and second in Major League Baseball for the current longest string of consecutive losing seasons. The Orioles have not had a winning season since 1997, and the Pirates have been waiting since 1992.

Well, we will be heading out to Camden Yards for this matchup on Saturday night, and I can only hope that the rain they are forecasting holds off. Otherwise, there will be a lot more beers consumed at Pickles Pub than I orginally planned on.

Anyway, here's hoping for another scene like this when all is said and done this weekend:

I'm Back

After a 2.5 year hiatus, I am back for another post. Just to update from the post below:

I have heard a lot about blogs, but I have never actually had one...until now. Well, this is the space that I will talk about my life and whatever else is on my mind. Usually the things on my mind are:

my kids

my wife

my cat

my house

the Pittsburgh Pirates

my fantasy teams

my job

Alright...if I keep up at this rapid pace, please watch for a new post coming in December 2010!
